HCIT is a full service company for ophthalmologists. In order to provide the premier EMR for ophthalmologists we focus 100% on our design efforts. We decided that instead of offering only part of the solution, EMR, HCIT would offer a complete solution. We researched Windows practice management systems extensively and selected one that has the flexibility to handle the needs of a solo physician up to a large enterprise. It also has a clinical backbone, which offers a great advantage to our clients. The drawback to many practice management systems is that they offer an interface kit so you can connect to an EMR from another company however most of those interfaces are severely limited. They may have patient demographics only or scheduling and demographics but not referral data and some do not offer a two-way interface, which would accept the billing information back electronically. Some practice management companies will not give you the option to connect to another EMR. With our practice management system we can provide full system integration so the entire system works together seamlessly while using the same SQL database so you can analyze your data any way you like throughout your system. We also offer you the option of using our practice management or another practice management system. Make sure you protect yourself by getting a guarantee in writing from your PMS vendor that they will work with you to interface into the EMR of your choosing so you will not be forced to switch systems again later on.

Open Windows Platform

The system was designed from the ground up in Microsoft Windows. It also connects directly to other Windows products for reporting such as Excel® and Crystal Report Writer® and for patient communication to automated patient reminder systems. Your network will have advanced user security and Internet security.

Seamless Workflow

Every piece of patient information is quickly at your fingertips. This system is patient driven instead of menu driven so it is very easy to learn and to navigate. There are many choices by user for presentation of your work screen for email, to do list and scheduling.

Scanning

HCIT has designed an intuitive scanning product that works with both the PMS and EMR software. You can easily scan any documents directly into the patient chart such as Insurance Cards, ID Cards, Paper Referrals, Patient Consents and HIPAA Documents.

Scheduling

The scheduling is designed to accommodate the advanced needs of ophthalmologists. Schedules can be designed uniquely by physician, location, specialty and group. There are advanced features for searching and scheduling for sequential appointment combinations and resources. The system also manages referrals and has a user defined alert system for global alerts etc.

Accounts Receivable

HCIT will configure the Patient Statements any way you like in addition to any printed items such as labels, collection letters, appointment letters etc. You can also design your own billing alerts. We are HIPAA compliant with your electronic claims. You may choose to go through a clearinghouse or direct to a carrier. We provide electronic remittance and electronic patient statements.

All information is instantly updated so you have up to the minute patient aging information. The flexible setup area includes unlimited insurance payers and fee schedules with advanced setup for authorizations, co-pays, and managed care contracts. If you are a multi-specialty ophthalmology group the system handles multiple groups and departments such as surgery center, optical shop, oculoplastics and LASIK center. In addition, each patient can have an unlimited number of insurance payers including optical and medical.

Collections

Along with excellent reporting and onscreen views, there is a complete collections system. It includes detailed notes, automated follow up, patient specific alerts, customized collection messages on statements, tickler reminder lists and many filters for immediate flexible viewing of information.

Reporting

In addition to the many on-screen views and on-screen queries, we have designed an advanced report suite. With our robust report suite you can quickly print any report to the screen, with drill down to details, or to paper. Each report can be subtotaled by any parameters such as physician, group, specialty, department, location, facility, insurance etc.
